In the series' 500th episode, the Simpsons are banished from Springfield, thanks to Homer's drunken antics, Bart's shenanigans and Lisa's annoying environmental activism, and end up in an off-the-grid, post-apocalyptic encampment called "The Outlands." Alison Krauss performs the series' theme song

and the nedna thing is pretty stupid i mean no wonder she was the likely candidate for ned cus who else is there apart from marge thats a strong woman charater on the simpsons? ednas about the only other woman who gets any airtime (and is single) i reckon if you asked fans if they wanted maude back over edna most people would choose maude, also the sadness does not leave the episode just because cercumstances have changed, although nobody has aged the simpsons have moved into the future so maude coming back would be after those sad episodes wouldnt really be a slap in the face, the simpsons could go on and on and on there is no reason for it to stop, its the longest running cartoon ever so its sort of like a cartoon equivalent of a show like (EastEnders) which is on four days a week (its big in the uk) so it could run and run and run and theres nothing to stop them from bringing dead characters back, where are you from? over here ive seen quite a few shows where dead characters have been brought back and nobody really cares. im not really sure why they killed her in the first place she was funny at times, they could have easily killed off someone else like lisas teacher or milhouses mum, i think maude was a decent part of the simpons.

she is not coming back? well it looks like homers mum came back to me! :D haha!!! and yeah although homer found her dead in her chair that doesnt mean its not impossible to bring her back, she coudl have injected herself with that drug that takes away ur pulse like sideshow bob did and the ashes could be anyones! these are just ideas for how they could bring her back doesnt mean i think they will. even though they did it the newest episode! FACE! :D

Domer, I am sorry but yes, I am speaking for the majority in what I said about the Nedna. The reason the two are together is because the MAJORITY wanted them to get together, there was a voting about it. You're also comparing Dr.Marvin who's death or life would have no impact on the show, to Maude who's death is one of the most impactful moments in the Simpsons history. If Maude would come back, that impact would be gone and every episode involving dealing with her death would lose their purpose. And again, why would she be brought back NOW, after Ned has finally found new happiness? That would be just a dick move.
Homer's mother faked death many times but not this time. Homer found her dead, she was cremarated and her ashes were spread from the top of the highest mountain peak as she wanted. The entire episode is a tribute not only to Homer's mother, but also for the voice actress who passed away. She is not coming back.
Troy is also never coming back for the reasons you mentioned.

do u speak for the majority of the simpsons fans? ned and edna are not that good a match and just because she has been dead for whatever years doesnt mean anything, dr. marvin moroe aparently died but he was brought back and dr nick died in the simpsons movie along with a few others but hes still around, at the end of the day its a cartoon which contradicts itself all the time! i doubt many people would be bothered by maudes return, as for homers mother i think most people know that the voice actor died in real life you dont need to act like you know everything, an insult to who? the fans? the fans dont dictate to them what happens if they do things you dont like then deal with it, its their choice also homers mother has faked her death loads of times and so its not far fetched to believe she could still be around, as for the voice acting there are loads of voice actors out there that im sure sound close enough.there are tons of ways in which they could bring her back prefossor frink could invent a machine, they 2 aliens could have some special device, anything! ive seen loads far fetched stuff on the simpsons recently. the voice actor for troy mclore or whatever his name is died aswell but he hasnt died in the simpons so they couldeasily find a voice actor for him aswell.

Maude has been dead for 12 years and Ned is with Edna now, which majority of Simpsons fans wanted. Why would Maude be brought back to life and how? Why would she be brought back after 12 years after Ned finally found happiness? I could kinda see that in next season or so but to do it now would just be a slap on everyone's faces.
Homer's mother died peacefully in her sleep and was cremated and her remains were scattered up on the highest peak of a mountain, just the way she had wished. It was a beautiful and touching way to to go. Also, the voice actress died in real life and the episode is tribute to them. Not only does this make it literally impossible for them to be brought back, the episode is one of the more sadder episodes and to bring her back would totally undermine the drama in it.
There really is not "clever writing" that could bring these characters back and there are no need to. To bring them back would be insult and there's no big enough deus ex machina they could pull out to do something that huge.

I kind of see what you're saying but them bringing someone back from the dead would NOT be clever writing, no matter how they'd pull it off. It would be an insult to all the fans who actually care about the show, despite all it's current faults that would be the straw that'd break any fan's back.
I agree on you with the colors though, I prefered the brighter colors before HD episodes, now they look too washed up. Though, maybe they wanted to go for slighter yellow for better contrast or something but still, I haven't *really* enjoyed any episode since the HD episodes came along.

i meant mother, the last season was good so i cant understand how it could change so much this season has disapointed me so much! and i love the simpsons more than anything! i wanna see anouther 500 episodes because i believe they can do it! why not add a new character to springfield, or bother with old characters? i mean they could bring neds wife back with some clever writing! or homers mum! the episodes ive watched recently are pretty lame! and the episode seems to be over b4 its started, i wish i could get hold of the simpsons writers and give them my ideas for new episodes, i seriously hope they dont move to outlands they better go back to sprigfield or they have truely fucked up! why did it even end without them being back in springfield? i hated this episode to be honest! the town suddenly hated them? for no reason really! i wish the simpsons wasnt so finely drawn aswell, i liked it when they were crudley drawn and the colours were really bright now it just has faded colours :( im just a bit sad about it all :( i hope they can change it up! i dont want it off my screen!
