In the series' 500th episode, the Simpsons are banished from Springfield, thanks to Homer's drunken antics, Bart's shenanigans and Lisa's annoying environmental activism, and end up in an off-the-grid, post-apocalyptic encampment called "The Outlands." Alison Krauss performs the series' theme song

i dont think this season has been very good, if its new writers then they need to be sacked, tthey are making storie lines that are daft and pointless there are so many more stories the simpsons could tell it is by no means dried up i mean they could do a story about marges father, use to handle those touching family stories so well! im sure marges father is still alive 2 so i dont know what happened to her, im a bit sick of them nearly always leaving springfield and not even bothering with alot of the other characters and im not a fan of them using weird music alot i like the simpons music they used to use on things aswell whats happend to alot of the characters voices? nobody sounds the right there voices are wierd

I was disappointed, it had potential to return to elements that we love so dearly from the earlier seasons. And at times it seemed this would emerge, with the plot, discovered they were going to be banished, when homer and marge return to springfield...

There were some laughs to be had but honestly, this episode just lost its wind before it reached even halfway mark.
Congratulations anyway on 500, though by the looks of it there won't be 500 more.
